Welcome to the Champion Of Hope Youth Support Site. We decided to build this site for our youth,a place where they can come to talk about their issues about addiction. Champion Of Hope is about educating , preventing and supporting indivduals ,who are overcome by the issues of addiction, wether it be a young person addicted, a young person living with an addicted person, or a young person who has lost a loved one to addiction, or even if the youth has issues surrounding addiction. We wanted to build a site, that our youth can call thier own. This will be a safe place for young people to talk about their issues with others who have or are expieriencing the destruction of addiction. This site will be hosted by a youth, who has seen addiction at it's worse and has seen hope in having an addicted Father, who has now been clean for 5yrs. The Youth Support Group will be monitored by adults, who have had an addicted loved one. This site is still under construction, so your ideas and feedback are needed. Host Profile: Amber is a 15 yr old female, who has lived through her childhood with a heroin addicted father. Amber has gone through alot of the same issues as most children with addicted parents, she had to grow up at an early age , to take care of her brother who is 2 yrs younger, and had to see first hand of the destructive behavours caused by her father. Amber now devotes her time supporting her father and plays a big part in his work to help others at Champion Of Hope. Mary is a married mother of 2 teenagers. For 10 yrs mary has lived with a heroin addicted husband, trying to help a person that did not want to be helped.Mary believes that our youth need to heard, they are special gifts from the lord, and they are our future.Contact Mary at: RM_ROSS@sympatico.ca 2) Jane is another very special person , who I met about 1 yr ago. Jane lost her oldest son Tom, to heroin addiction November 7, 1998. Jane is a 49 yr old Married mother of 2 other children, who are drug and alcohol free.Jane is married to a wonderful man named steve who is very supportiv of her work to help others. Jane lost 2 grandsons through the destruction of addiction, and knows first hand of the pain that a person goes through. Jane likes to sew and loves to paint fantasy art.She is very family oriented , spending alot of time with her husband , children and grandchildren. Jane is deeply involved in the fight to prevent drug addiction, and in helping our youth heal and make positive choices in their lives. Janet lost her son Scott to a cocaine overdose, and presently has another son Adam currently in Jail, Adam is alo an addict. Janet is a married Mother of Adam and another son, who is drug and alcohol free. Janet has lived the horrors of having 2 drug addicted children, and knows first hand of the cracks in the system . She devotes alot of time supporting other addicts, is very involved in helping other parents who have lost their loved ones to addiction. Janets heart is with our youth , to make the right choices in their lives, Janet knows the pain of a parent of not having her son to hold. This is a non-judgemental, confidential and supportive forum. This group is open to all youth. Youth Support will begin on : Saturday March 3rd /2001 from 5:00pm- 7:00pm Eastern Standard Time. Since there has been a great demand for this type of support, we will start off with once a week, and will progress to more days as the demand grows greater.
